Book Rewiew: Wehshi by Razia Butt
Wehshi / وحشی
Author: Razia Butt
Published by: Sang E Meel Publications
Razia Butt, a name quiet familiar to Urdu fiction literature, is my new obsession. Although the stories are typical of urdu fiction literature but Razia Butt's style of blending human psychology with wisdom is really fascinating. I am looking forward to read more of her writings. Wehshi is the 2nd book of her which I have read.
This novel besides being simple is intriguing, comprehending yet disturbing. It has a strong grasp on human psychology which leaves the human mind in muddle of chaos & commotion. Due to this reason despite of the reason that I had read this novel for a couple of weeks yet I couldn't find courage to describe this. Anyways, let us dive into the pros and cons of this novel.
Pros & Cons
Pros
1) Strong grip on human psychology:
As I have mentioned earlier, the only thing which makes this novel stand out is its strong grasp of human psyhe.
2) Practical Novel:
The book seems to me quiet practical, in a sense that love in this world is not indifferent to the worldly things. Razia Butt brilliantly explained the fact that youngsters fall in love so often, not considering the ground realities but sooner or later they realize it.
3) Through the practical depiction of characters, the writer tries to teach how ideal realtionships should be build
for example it makes my heart so depressed seeing mother of Asif neglecting him for the cause of making others happy just so the people may grant some place in their life to Asif. Although she tried her best and ends up in failure. It makes me realize the importance of communication of mother with her children.
Cons
1) Little bit exaggerated:
At one point, I was about to give the novel because I already predicted the ending (which turns out to be exactly how I predicted) + I lost the point of novel, it kept getting frustrating but I pushed myself to the end.Plot Summary
